Iran disbands two terrorist groups: Intelligence Ministry
The Iranian Intelligence Ministry says it has identified and disbanded two terrorist groups that smuggled weapons into the country. In a statement released on Monday, the Ministry said, The enemies of the nation have intensified their destructive activities and [are] making arrangements for different types of seditious acts ahead of the upcoming election.

 
Iran declares candidates list on May 22: Iranian Elections Headquarters
Irans Elections Headquarters says the final list of candidates for the 11th presidential election of the Islamic Republic will be announced on May 22. Secretary of Irans Elections Headquarters and Deputy Interior Minister Seyyed Solat Mortazavi said on Monday that the Interior Ministry would announce the names of the candidates on Wednesday, May 22.

 
Iranian girl nominated for Sport Accord Awards
Paralympic gold medalist Zahra Nemati of Iran has been shortlisted for the annual SportAccord Spirit of Sport Awards 2013 with the Awards Commission. The Spirit of Sport Awards 2013 will be presented to the Laureates during the 11th annual Sport Accord Convention in Saint Petersburg, Russia on 29 May 2013.

 
Reports: Iran bars 2 top figures from June ballot
Iranian news websites have boosted speculation that election overseers have barred two prominent but divisive figures from next months presidential ballot. The hardline website Tasnimnews.com says the Guardian Council has rejected former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, a close confidant of outgoing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The semiofficial Mehr news agency carried the same report.

 
India leads Asian cuts in Iran oil imports ahead of waiver review
India has slashed Iranian oil imports by almost a fifth since December, the sharpest cut among Asian buyers, in a move that should increase its chances of winning a new U.S. waiver next month on sanctions targeting oil trade with Iran. Sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe to force a halt to a controversial nuclear programme that Tehran says is for peaceful purposes saw Irans oil exports more than halve last year, costing it $5 billion a month in lost revenue.
