Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says imperialist powers have always been trying to pillage the resources and assets of nations through complicated schemes.
Controlling the assets of nations has always been on the agenda of imperialism and imperialists have always tried their utmost to prevent other nations from achieving their interests, Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday during his visit to southern Persian Gulf port of Assalouyeh.
Ahmadinejad said the current economic relations governing the world are influenced by political ties, which indicates the continued existence of imperialism.
Referring to obstructions caused by Western companies and countries for Irans oil industry, Ahmadinejad said, Those who have imposed sanctions against us are the owners of the same companies that do not give us goods and equipments.
Today, Assalouyeh and South Pars can be the starting point of a new history in our country by resisting against monopolization, the Iranian president added.
At the beginning of 2012, the United States and the European Union imposed new sanctions on Irans oil and financial sectors with the goal of preventing other countries from purchasing Iranian oil and conducting transactions with the Central Bank of Iran.
The illegal US-engineered sanctions were imposed based on the unfounded accusation that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran's civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
