Financial Tribune- According to projections made in the government�s comprehensive plan for the housing sector, one million residential units must be built annually for the next 10 years, a deputy roads and urban development minister said.

�About half of this need for residential units pertains to renovating worn-out units located in designated distressed areas and neighborhoods targeted for revitalization,� Hamed Mazaherian also said in a conference for executives in the housing sector.

As the ministry�s deputy for housing and buildings said, the projection has been made in line with the fact that Iran�s total population now borders 80 million while 24 million households have an average of 3.3 members per household. Estimates might be modified in line with potential population changes.
