Iran ready to offer addiction treatment training to Afghanistan

Tehran, December 20, The Iran Project- Theminister of interior says Iran is ready to dispatch physicians to offer necessarytrainingforaddiction treatment toAfghanistan.

Speaking in the joint meeting between Afghanistans Minister of Counter Narcotics and Irans Ministry of Interior on Sunday, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli noted the cultural and religious similarities of two countries, expressing Irans reediness to provide Afghanistan with the necessary medical trainingand also to supply the requiredmedicines in addiction treatment.

Responding to the Afghans official's request for Irans cooperation in alternative cultivation projects, he mentioned the failure of past initiatives, stressing the need to further consultation between two countries.

Elsewhere inthis meeting, Salam Azimi, the Minister of Counter Narcotics of Afghanistan, appreciated Irans commitments to resolve the problem of illicit drug trafficking, stressing that the issue is related to all countries.

Noting Irans effective plans in the area of the addicts' treatment and rehabilitation, he highlighted his country's initiatives to control addiction in Afghanistan.
