Interior Ministry calls activity of Yekta Party "illegal"
Tehran, June 17, The Iran Project On the eve of Irans parliamentary elections, supporters of former president Ahmadinejad have formed a party named Yekta that the Interior Ministry calls it illegal, Fararu news website reported on Tuesday.

Iran's Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said on Monday that the formation and activities of Yekta Party are illegal, stressing any party or group needs to get a permit from the Commission on Article 10 of the Parties Law to get engaged in political activities.

A number of ministers of Ahmadinejads government including Interior and Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar, Science Minister Kamran Daneshjoo and Education Minister Hamidreza Haji Babaee announced the formation of their party in a conference on Monday.

Although some believe that Yekta will follow in the footsteps of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and will help him and his inner circle have a strong showing in the upcoming parliamentary elections, former Minister of Science Kamran Daneshjoo said on the sidelines of Yekta partys first meeting that this party doesnt have any relationship with Ahmadinejad, nor a plan for the elections, Fars News Agency reported.

However, according to Tasnim,head of the Parliament's Principilist faction Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said earlier that Yekta party can help unite the Principilists for the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
