White House fails to confirm Bidens attendance at Netanyahus speech

White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said that US Vice President Joe Biden had not yet scheduled to be present at the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus address to the US Congress about Irans nuclear program and the threat posed by jihadist terrorists.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) US Vice President Joe Biden is not yet scheduled tobe present atthe Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus address toboth chambers ofUS Congress amidcontroversy behindhis visit, White House spokesperson Josh Earnest said.
We will see, that is the best answer I can give you there, we are still working throughexactly what the vice presidents schedule is going tolook likethat first week inMarch, Earnest said onWednesday inresponse toa question aboutwhether Biden will skip Netanyahus speech.

US House Speaker John Boehner invited Netanyahu tospeak inCongress aboutIrans nuclear program and the threat posed byjihadist terrorists.
The White House has earlier described Boehners invitation and Israeli acceptance ofit as a departure fromprotocol.
Earnest stressed, however, that the US-Israeli relationship is much more important thanthe relationship betweenthe Democratic and Republican parties.

Presiding overjoint sessions ofCongress is part ofthe vice presidents ceremonial duties. In his capacity asvice president, Biden has missed only one congressional joint session in2011, because he was travelling abroad.
