The Iran Project : Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi paid a visit to the Turkish capital of Ankara to attend meetings over regional issues, urging an immediate truce in war-hit Gaza.
According to The Iran Project, at the head of a high-ranking political and economic delegation, the Iranian president arrived in Turkey on Wednesday.
At the end of his stay, Tehran and Ankara issued a joint statement, condemning the Israeli crimes against the Palestinians and demanding an immediate end to the occupying regime’s attacks in Gaza as well as unimpeded delivery of essential goods and services to the people there.
While in Turkey, President Raisi held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and exchanged views on bilateral ties.
Top officials from Iran and Turkey further signed ten cooperation documents in various fields, as the two neighbors weighed plans to meet the target of $30 billion in annual trade exchange.
Accordingly, the agreements include the fields of culture, media and communication, rail and air transportation, electricity, energy, and economic and free trade zones.
Talking at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Raisi stressed the determination of the authorities of the two countries to promote relations in various sectors, especially in the commercial and economic fields.
“We believe that the two countries, with their very high capacities, can take important steps in the path of development and leap in relations, and in this regard, in the first stage, it is targeted to increase commercial and economic cooperation to $30 billion, which with the efforts of economic leaders and activists of the two countries, it is completely possible to be achieved,” Raisi stated.
Erdogan, for his part, said he discussed with his Iranian counterpart the need for cessation of Israel's “inhumane” attacks on Gaza and the urgency of just and permanent peace.
He said they also agreed on the importance of avoiding steps that would further threaten security, and stability of our region, referring to the Israeli onslaught on Gaza.
Erdogan said he also discussed with his Iranian counterpart the importance of closer cooperation to fight the Kurdistan Workers' Party militant group and its affiliate terrorist groups.
In addition, Iran and Turkey jointly declared their commitment to augmenting bilateral trade while also pledging collaborative efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
