TEHRAN June 8 (Shana)--Isfahan Refinery is expected to start producing euro-4 grade gasoline once the necessary catalyst has been mass-produced in the country, a senior official said. Director for production coordination and supervision at National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), Saeed Mahjoubi, said contracts have been signed for the production of euro-4 gasoline catalyst.
He said that the catalyst is being produced by a subsidiary of National Petrochemical Company (NPC). Mahjoubi said Isfahan refinery is currently producing 10 to 11 ml/d of gasoline. The catalyst is being produced by Exir Novin Farayand Asia with the cooperation of Supplying Petrochemical Industries Part, Equipment and Chemical Engineering Company (SPEC). With the inauguration of this production line, eight catalysts needed by petrochemical and refining industries will be produced domestically. The products of this factory are to be used in Bandar Abbas, Nouri and Bou Ali Sina petrochemical plants as well as in all refineries. Deputy Petroleum Minister for Petrochemical Affairs Abbas Sheri-Moqaddam said recently that nobody imagined that Iran would one day become a producer of this catalyst. He called on this factory to cooperate with Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) in order to produce other catalysts required by the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
