Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif Says Iran and Kuwait share common views on different regional problems including extremism, violence and sectarianism.
Zarif made the remarks on Monday after seeing off the visiting Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah at Tehrans International Mehrabad Airport.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Kuwaiti emir arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, earlier on Sunday for a landmark two-day visit to discuss key bilateral and regional issues with senior Iranian officials.
The Iranian foreign minister said that during Sheikh Sabas visit, both countries underlined the necessity for cooperation among Persian Gulf littoral states in a bid to settle regional crises.
Zarif said the visit by Kuwaits emir provided a good opportunity for the leaders of both countries to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The top Iranian diplomat said that Sheikh Sabas trip opened a new chapter in the enhancement of bilateral trade, political and cultural relations between the two countries.
Zarif expressed hope that the visit will serve the interests of both nations of Iran and Kuwait.
Sheikh Sabahs visit came at the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Following the historic visit by Kuwaits Emir to Iran, the two countries signed six agreements to strengthen cooperation in the fields of transportation, security, customs, sports, tourism and the environment.
The agreements were inked in the presence of Irans President Hassan Rouhani and Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah in Tehran on Sunday after the two sides held talks at Saadabad cultural and historical complex.
