TEHRAN (ISNA)- A team of Iranian lawmakers plans to visit Syria in coming days on the verge of presidential elections in the country.
"A parliamentary delegation comprising of Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group and some members of Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy will visit Syria on June 3," said a member of the commission Mohammad Hassan A-Safari.
The aim of the visit scheduled for June 3 is to support Syrian government for holding the elections. The team is invited by Syrian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham.
The lawmakers do not plan to monitor the elections and are only after assisting Syrian government to hold the process.
