TEHRAN (FNA)- Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi lashed out at French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius for his untrue remarks about Iran's cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog.Fabius in a recent interview claimed that Iran has not fully cooperated with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In response Boroujerdi strongly dismissed the French foreign minister's allegation as baseless, saying, "Iran's cooperation with the IAEA is quite evident in the report of the UN body, and the French foreign minister's comments display his country's destructive role in Iran's nuclear issue," Boroujerdi said on Wednesday.
The prominent Iranian lawmaker reiterated that Iran and the IAEA have reached good understandings in several rounds of talks on different occasions.
"France should know that the nuclear talks (between Iran and the world powers) will one day end with an agreement, but France's destructive stances will always remain in the minds of the Iranian nation," Boroujerdi said.
Iran and the world powers could eventually struck an interim deal in Geneva in November, but they were about to lose the opportunity due to France's unexpected opposition under the influence of the Israeli regime.
While a deal between Iran and the world powers seemed on the cusp, Fabius said Israels concerns must be taken into consideration.
It is necessary to take fully into account Israel's security concerns and those of the region, Fabius had told France Inter radio in Geneva early November at the beginning of the third day of the talks in the Swiss capital.
The news came amid Israels deep anger over the likelihood of an agreement between Iran and the six world powers in the course of the ongoing nuclear talks.
The French stubborn attitude angered Iranian officials then. Rapporteur of the parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini lambasted Fabius for his efforts to widen the gap between Iran and the West in the Geneva talks, and advised him to show care for the national interests of his own country and not those of Israel.
"The behavior of Frances representative in the nuclear negotiations shows that France seeks to blackmail the negotiations, and this illogical behavior should be confronted by the other members of the Group 5+1, Naqavi Hosseini told FNA in early November.
While the French people want an improvement in the relations between Paris and Tehran, unfortunately the French government has preferred the Zionist regimes views to its peoples demand, he added.
We hope that the French foreign minister casts a logical look at the negotiations, Naqavi Hosseini said.
