Iran, Germany to promote tourism cooperation

Tehran, May 21, IRNA Head of Irans Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Masoud Soltanifar and German Ambassador to Iran Michael Freiherr von Ungern underlined the need for both countries to enhance tourism cooperation.

They also urged the establishment of a working group to explore ways of boosting mutual cooperation in cultural and tourism fields.

The two countries have had good cultural and social relations in the course of history, Soltanifar said.

He also hailed Iran-Germany cultural ties and said that a numer of memoranda of understanding have been signed by the two countries.

Given the policies of the government of Prudence and Hope based on boosting interaction with other countries and dtente, we favor active presence of Iran on international scene and developing ties with other countries, he said.

Describing Germany as of the successful countries in the field of tourism in the world, Soltanifar noted that Iran is among top states in view of its exceptional and rare historic, cultural and natural potentials.

The German envoy, for his part, referred to the increasing interest of foreign tourists to visit Irans cultural and historical monuments, saying that it has been announced that the country enjoyed full capacity for attracting German tourists.


European and foreign tourists are interested in visiting Irans beautiful cities and rare landscapes, he said.


Freiherr von Ungern also said that archeological excavations can serve as main area of cooperation between the two countries.
