Rafsanjani calls for Iraqis' vigilance against enemies' divisive plots

Rafsanjani calls for Iraqis
TEHRAN (FNA)- Chairman of Irans Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned against the repercussions of the spread of extremism and terrorism in the region, particularly in Iraq, and urged Iraqi officials and people to be watchful of the plots hatched by the enemies to create rift among them.
We should not allow Iraq to turn into a safe haven for the virus of terrorism. The return of tyranny is a natural result of insecurity, Hashemi Rafsanjani said in a meeting with Iraqi Judiciary Chief Medhat al-Mahmoud in Tehran on Tuesday. He stressed the importance of strengthening economic, cultural, political and social ties among regional countries to restore peace and tranquility in the Middle-East. The Iraqi judiciary chief arrived in Tehran on Saturday and met with senior Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, head of the judicial power Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Iranian Prosecutor General and Judiciary Spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejeie, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Justice Minister Mostafa Pour Mohammadi during his four-day stay in Tehran. Earlier this month, Hashemi Rafsanjani underlined Tehran's rigid stance against the spread of extremism and terrorism in the world, specially in the Muslim World. "The Islamic Republic is ready to help remove the concerns of Muslim countries with regard to spread of terrorism," Hashemi Rafsanjani said in a meeting with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in Tehran at the time.
