TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran will officially protest at the practice of discrimination against the country's laborers and workers by the International Labor Organization (ILO), a senior labor official announced.


The remarks by Secretary-General of the High Council of Workers' Representatives Arash Faraz came after ILO in a discriminatory measure cut all its services to Iranian laborers.

"We will voice our protest on behalf of the Iranian workers against these attempts to the ILO's board of directors in this year's meeting," Faraz told FNA on Sunday.

He noted that despite Iran's active and regular presence and cooperation in this international organization, the ILO in a politicized and discriminatory attempt not only cut its services to the Iranian workers, but has also refrained from providing any response in this regard.

The ILO was founded in 1919, in the wake of a destructive war, to pursue a vision based on the premise that universal, lasting peace can be established only if it is based on social justice. The ILO became the first specialized agency of the UN in 1946.

The main aims of the ILO are to promote rights at work, encourage decent employment opportunities, enhance social protection and strengthen dialogue on work-related issues.
