New York, April 29, IRNA Iran?s Permanent Representative to the UN Gholam-Hossein Dehqani called for restructuring security of war-stricken countries while respecting their sovereignty.
?In the peacemaking trend of the United Nations, the revision of the security structures of the countries leaving behind civil wars should take place while respecting their sovereignty and priorities,? Dehqani said, addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries.
He underlined that the NAM countries look at the revision of security structure in its broader and expanded framework or reciprocal relations between peace and security with development and its complimentary role of peace-keeping and peace-making.
?The issue of security structures is the primary responsibility of the governments and the right of the beneficiary countries that determine their priorities in this regard,? Dehqani added.
