Tehran to host Tolstoy seminar

Tehran, April 22, IRNA - Iran plans to hold a seminar on the Russian novelist and social critic Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy in Tehran.
Organized by Tehrans Book City Institute in collaboration with Leo Tolstoy Foundation in Moscow and Irans Islamic Cultural Relations Organization (ICRO), the seminar is to host a number of Iranian and Russian literati and scholars the English-language newspaper ?Iran daily? reported on Tuesday.
Tolstoys great-great-grandson, Vladimir Ilyich Tolstoy, his wife and a group of producers from Russian state TV will be attending the gala, Book City Institute Deputy Director Ali Asghar Mohammadkhani announced.

The one-week seminar titled What Have I Learned from Tolstoy? will review the life, opinions and thoughts of the poet.

A collection of Tolstoys portraits created by various artists over the past decades will be showcased in an exhibition at the event.

The participants will also view a movie adapted from Tolstoys famous novel War and Peace, directed by the US filmmaker King Vidor.

Tolostoys doctrine of education, religion, individual and social behavior and art have great significance in the world.

The seminar is scheduled to kick off on April 27, 2014.
