TEHRAN, April 21 (MNA) Irans envoy to the IAEA has said it is unlikely that New York session brings accord in content of the discussions.Reza Najafi told Mehr News that it was unlikely that the countries attending New York meeting would come to an agreement and prepare and sign a document regarding content of the discussion, however, an easy agreement on the structural issues is possible to achieve.
Najafi commented on the third meeting of preliminary committee to review NPT 2015 which would meet in three sessions after having been established in three different cities.
He also told Mehr News that the sessions agenda always provided a ready disagreement source for the session. For example in 2005 session, when in Bush administration, the US did not agreed with the agenda and NAM countries and the US could not have managed an agreement on the agenda, which was the cause of failure of the session, said he, but during Obama administration, a change in US position and agreement with the agenda contributed to success of the session in 2010.
Asked about the US-initiated restrictions for member states access to nuclear technology, which of course partly failed, and what would be his assessment of the situation in the present session, Najafi told that it seemed that the old differences to have been on the place, and NAM countries which are the majority of non-nuclear countries demanded that Article 6 be implemented and nuclear weapons be fully dismantled.
Irans envoy to the IAEA emphasized that a step gone unnoticed was holding the conference Middle East Free of Nuclear Weapons which had not been held yet. Middle Eastern countries strongly demand Israels joining to the NPT and subject its activities to the supervision of the IAEA, which has not been possible yet, Najafi said.
