Official: Iran's annual petrochemical exports up by one percent

TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian energy official underlined the Iranian petrochemical industry's capacity to conquer more world markets, and said one percent of growth in the country's petrochemical exports to international customers in the last Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2014) testifies to this claim.
Head of the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Products Exporters Union Hassan Khosrojerdi said on Saturday that Iran witnessed a growth in the export of petrochemical products during the last Iranian calendar year.

He said Irans petrochemical exports rose by about one percent $10.165bln to $10.723bln last year, adding that Irans main customers were Asian, African and Eastern European countries.

The official added that customers from Italy, Spain and Greece have recently resumed import of petrochemical products from Iran.

Iran has significantly expanded the range and volume of its petrochemical products over the past few years, and the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) has become the second largest producer and exporter of petrochemicals in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia.

Iran exports petrochemical products to more than 60 countries. The main destinations include the Far East, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and Africa.
