TEHRAN Mar 16 (Shana): The Department of the Environment has said that Euro-4 diesel fuel is less polluting due to its lower sulfur content. Saeed Motesadi, deputy head of the DOE, said Euro-4 gasoil will also reduce suspended particles produced from fuel consumption.
He said that distribution of Euro-4 gasoil has started in Tehran and the big cities of Arak and Karaj.
Motesadi said with the inauguration of gasoil dehydrogenization unit at Imam Khomeini Refinery in the central city of Shazand, production of Euro-4 compliant diesel fuel started in Iran.
He said the inauguration of this project will lead 50 tons a day of sulfur to markets instead of entering the environment, adding that more than 12 million liters a day of Euro-4 gasoil is being added to the countrys production.
The sulfur production in this refinery has been slashed from 10,000 part per million (ppm) to 30 ppm, he added.
