Tehran, March 16, IRNA Irans eight-member parliamentary delegation departed for Geneva Sunday morning to attend the 130th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in the Swiss city from March 16-20.
The delegation is headed by Moayyed Hosseini Sadr, secretary general of the countrys inter-parliamentary group.
Participants in the assembly are to discuss major international political, economic and social issues including the role of parliaments in establishing a world free of nuclear weapons as well as protecting the rights of children, in particular unaccompanied migrant children.
The gathering is also to discuss parliaments? role in preventing exploitation of children in situations of war and conflict and review report of the Standing Committee on United Nations Affairs.
A day-long meeting is also to be held on the sidelines of the event to discuss cessation of violence and exploitation of women and children in wars and conflicts.
