TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described as 'useful' his talks with the visiting EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton in Tehran.
Zarif in a message posted on his twitter said, "Useful talks were held with Baroness Ashton in Tehran."
"This is the first time over many years that Iran has hosted an EU Foreign Policy Chief," he said in his message.
"Constructive negotiations were held with Baroness Ashton on Iran-EU relations and our country's talks with G5+1."
On Monday, the EU foreign policy chief held talks with Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Ali Akbar Velayati, who is a top advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani and former SNSC secretary Saeed Jalili.
She also attended a joint press conference with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Heading a politico-economic delegation, Ashton arrived in Tehran on Saturday to hold talks on Irans nuclear energy program and relations with the European Union.
Ashtons trip comes upon a January invitation by the Iranian foreign minister.
