Velayati: Islamic Awakening against extremism, Takfiri moves

Tehran, March 10, IRNA Secretary-General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening Ali Akbar Velayati stressed the need for the unity of the Islamic nations, noting that the Islamic Awakening is against all kinds of extremism and Takfiri moves.
Addressing the opening session of the sixth meeting of the Supreme Council of the assembly here, Velayati said presently, enemies are concentrating their efforts on marginalizing problems of the Islamic world, particularly that of the Palestine.

Urging the world Muslims to stay vigilant against enemies? plots, the official said all Muslim states should continue their support for the oppressed people of Palestine.

Velayati, also chairman of the Center for Strategic Research of the Expediency Council, added that three years after the beginning of the Islamic Awakening, Muslim nations are more than ever in dire need of convergence and sharing their experiences to face challenges of the Islamic world.

The three-day meeting of the World Assembly of the Islamic Awakening is attended by a large number of political and religious figures from several Muslim states including Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt and Tunisia.
