A high-ranking Iranian military commander has roundly dismissed the recent Israeli allegation that Tehran sought to send missiles to the blockaded Gaza Strip as a dirty psychological operation against the Islamic Republic.The Americans and Zionists move, which both the White House and Tel Aviv have acknowledged to be a coordinated and joint action, is a step intended for Iranophobia and was staged through filthy media campaign. It shows the unremitting falsehood, which isrampant in the culture of liberal democracy and Western-Hebrew propaganda, Deputy Chairman of Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Brigadier General Seyyed Masoud Jazayeri stated in Tehran on Sunday.
He said that the world public opinion is well aware of baseless and false allegations being made by Americans and Israelis, adding, Unsubstantiated claims will have no effect on Iranians' strong will and determination to retain their inalienable rights in different areas. Their fake and repetitious media products as well as psychological warfare would yield nothing but defeat and disgrace for them, and would deepen the distrust of the Iranian nation and even the world nations.
Westerners should seriously reconsider their warmongering policies against freedom-seeking nations and the oppressed people of Palestine, and should renounce their terrorist and inhumane acts, Jazayeri pointed out.
On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif denied Israeli claims about capturing an arms shipment from Iran to Gaza, and described them as failed lies.
Israel earlier claimed that its naval forces had raided a ship in the Red Sea and seized dozens of rockets from Iran destined to reach Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza.
In Gaza, Hamas and Islamic Jihad also rejected the Israeli accusation.
The Hamas Interior Ministry called the Israeli claim a dangerous move aimed at justifying the seven-year blockade on the Gaza Strip.
Gaza has been blockaded since June 2007, which is a situation that has caused a decline in the standards of living, unprecedented levels of unemployment, and unrelenting poverty.
The Israeli regime denies about 1.7 million people in Gaza their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.
The humanitarian crisis facing Gaza has escalated as the only power plant in the coastal enclave has stopped working since last November due to a severe fuel shortage.
