Tehran, March 8, IRNA -- European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton is scheduled to meet President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday morning.On Saturday, Ashton arrived in Tehran at the head of a politico-economic delegation. She was welcomed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas Araqchi at Tehran?s Mehrabad International Airport.
During the visit to Tehran, Ashton is scheduled to meet and hold talks with high-ranking Iranian officials, including President Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.
Irans nuclear energy program and relations with the European Union top the agenda of Ashtons trip.
Ashton is the top negotiator of six world powers in nuclear talks with Iran.
The EU foreign policy chief will also visit the Iranian central city of Isfahan.
Ashtons trip comes upon a January invitation by Zarif. She is accompanied by her deputy Helga Schmidt.
