TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Head of Iran's Passive Defense Organization Gholam-Reza Jalali said that the country plans to conduct its first cyber drills, Tehran Times daily reported on Wednesday.
Jalali made the remarks ahead of Iran's Passive Defense Week which begins on Oct. 27.
"We will hold cyber drills in five or six major parts of the country, in a bid to enhance our cyber capabilities and prevent cyber attacks," said Jalali.
In July, Washington Post reported that two of Iran's uranium- enrichment plants were struck by cyber attacks, which shut down their computers.
The report said the AC/DC virus closed down the automation network at Iran's Natanz and Fordow facilities.
In August, Fereidoon Abbasi, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), denied that Iran's nuclear program had been attacked by the AC/DC virus.
Over the past few years, Iran has been the target of numerous cyber attacks aimed at disrupting its nuclear systems. Iran accuses the United States and Israel of being behind these attacks.
