Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA � Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Sunday that active presence of political parties are vital for a democratic society which rely upon people.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the members of political party dubbed �Will of Iranian nation�.

The political parties play vital role to educate elite politicians, he said.

Rafsanjani said that the political parties help revitalize human resources and the take shape of parliaments and governments to tread the path of progress and development.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani said that strong and well-established political parties taking shape based on rule of law in line with aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.

The Islamic Ummah will refer to Holy Quran for the administration of the country and resort to rationality and wisdom and never take sword unless being attacked, he said.

Ignoring the people and their status will lead to failure, he said.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani cautioned against extremism and said that reliance on people is a rational approach and extremism will harm the aspirations of the Islamic Revolution.

All should endeavor to stop going to extremes in society, said Rafsanjani.

Meanwhile, Rafsanjani said that the political parties should observe national interests and help uphold national solidarity.
