UN strongly condemns blasts in front of Irans cultural office in Beirut

New York, Feb 20, IRNA Special envoy of the UN Secretary General in Lebanon strongly condemned two blasts near Irans cultural center in Beirut and called Lebanese people not to allow such terrorist acts to endanger their national unity.

Two bomb explosions in the populated area of Bir Hassan in southern part of Beirut left four dead and more than 120 others injured on Wednesday morning.


The UN secretary general special envoy in Lebanon and responsible for coordination of the UN in the country Derek Plumbly, in a statement, condemned the act strongly and asked Lebanese people to support their new government and military and security forces to maintain stability and security of the country.

He appreciated efforts of Lebanese security and military forces in prevention and neutralization of terrorist acts and arrest of suspected people in this concern.

Plumbly assured Lebanese people that international community supports their efforts to restore national unity in Lebanon.
