‘Persian Night’ cultural program held in Spain

‘Persian Night’ cultural program held in Spain
Iranian Embassy in Spain has held the ‘Persian Night’ cultural program to help introduce Persian culture, language and civilization.
Iran’s Ambassador to Spain Morteza Saffari and Persian literature scholars and University professors attended the event held in Catalonia.

Iranian residents of Catalonia along with a number of Catalan people also flocked to the gala.

Iranian professor of Persian language at the University of Barcelona Behjat Mahdavi lectured on "the intertwined link between Persian literature and traditional music."

The event also presented a traditional Persian music program performed by Hannaneh ensemble led by Kamran Hemmatpour.

The program was organized by Ferdowsi Foundation in collaboration with the Spanish NGO, RBA Foundation.

Iran had earlier opened an Iranology center in the Spanish capital of Madrid in 2009, in an attempt to help students of Iran studies.

Spain has held several commemorating programs for several renowned Iranian poets and philosophers so far, to honor these ancient Persian masters.

In a commemorating ceremony, a statue of the internationally celebrated Iranian poet, Omar Khayam, was installed in Complutense University in Madrid, in 2011.
