Iran Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian says the Iranian diplomat abducted in Yemen last July is in good health.

On Thursday, Amir Abdollahian said the latest information from Yemeni authorities indicate that Nour Ahmad Nikbakht - the Iranian diplomat who was abducted in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa - is in completely good health, adding that efforts continue to secure his release and return to Iran.

The high-ranking Iranian official further noted that officials from the Iranian Foreign Ministry and Yemeni law enforcement forces are seriously pursuing the case.

Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also said on February 4 that the Iranian diplomat abducted in Yemen is in good health.

On February 2, Yemeni charge daffaires to Tehran, Abdullah Ali al-Seri, said Nikbakht is alive and in good health, emphasizing that Yemen Interior Ministry and security forces are responsible for investigating the fate of the abducted Iranian diplomat.

Nikbakht was on his way to work from his home in the diplomatic quarter of Sanaa on July 21 when unidentified gunmen blocked the road, forced him out of his vehicle and abducted him.
