Iranian producers exhibit capabilities in Tehran Apparel Fair

Irans progress in creating brands for apparel market!
On a snowy day in Tehran, the first Iran Apparel Fair was held to introduce top Iranian brands. Irans textile exporters and manufacturers Association says besides encouraging the producers to create brands; the main goal of this exhibition is to connect the manufacturers to the distribution network. "Some 45 Iranian brands have taken part at this exhibition.

We want to make the Iranian consumers know about the high quality of domestic products. More than 5 billion dollars of clothes were both officially and unofficially imported last year and that's a huge amount of money.

Iran has the capacity to supply at least 60 percent of the domestic market", says Mahdi Yekta, the secretary of Irans textile exporters and manufacturers Association. Despite large volume of import, in 2013 Iran exported over $50 million of apparel even to European countries and that is while Iran was under international sanctions led by Western countries.

"We mainly export our knitted clothes to European countries like Germany. Considering the high quality of Iranian products, we are optimistic that the import of foreign apparel decreases in the future", says Sina Shaabakhti, Iranian textile engineer and apparel producer. Iranian producers use beautiful designs in their products for all ages. There are even manufacturers who use natural fibers in their products which are popular among the youth.

Almost all the visitors who had come out on a very cold day were happy with the designs. Many of them did not even know there were so many Iranian brands in the market. Experts say the solutions to empower Irans apparel market include efforts to create brands, and restriction of the smuggling of foreign apparel into the country which was at least five billion dollars between March 2012 to March 2013.
