Tehran, Jan 21, IRNA � Deputy Foreign Minister, by underlining the UN effective role in sending wide relief aids to Syrian people, said Iran is ready to help the international body to facilitate cooperation with Syrian government.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, Morteza Sarmadi, in a meeting with the UN Assistant Secretary General and Executive Director of World Food Program (WFP) Ertharin Cousin here on Monday made the remarks.


Referring to Iran?s principled stance for settling Syrian crisis through political ways, Sarmadi underlined that one of the dimensions of this policy is considering humanitarian problems inside and outside of the country, especially in the current hard time and Iran is ready to use all its capacities in this concern.

Sarmadi expressed hope that following the visit and close acquaintance of the WFP executive director with Iran?s experiences and achievements in presenting humanitarian aids in regional level, we will witness more cooperation between Iran and the United Nations.

Ms. Cousin, for her part, appreciated Iran?s constant support and actions in all humanitarian aids program of the UN in different regional and international arena.

She expressed pleasure with her visit to Iran and satisfaction of her talks in Tehran and expounded on WFP activities including development of humanitarian programs in food affairs and removing problems and eliminating famine in direction of stabilizing world peace and security, especially in the region.

Referring to her recent visit to Damascus, she underlined constructive cooperation of related sectors in Syria with the UN to help people and Syrian refugees and added that WFP is only trying to help immigrants and refugees, and in this direction needs help of all countries, especially the effective ones in the region.

Cousin said WFP is ready to use Iran?s valuable experiences in different fields in regional and international levels.
