TEHRAN, Jan. 15 (MNA) Irans next year budget bill has allocated 24 trillion rials (about $970 million) to help needy patients receive medicine, the director of Irans Food and Drug Organization said on Tuesday.The fund has increased by 2 trillion rials (about $80 million) compared to the current year, ISNA quoted Rasoul Dinarvand as saying.
A considerable budget will be further allocated to this issue if the second phase of the Subsidy Reform Plan is implemented, he noted.
The next Iranian calendar year will start on March 21, 2014.
The subsidy reform plan, launched in December 2010, allows the Iranian government to gradually slash subsidies on fuel, electricity, and certain goods over the course of five years, with low-income families being compensated with direct cash handouts.
