Iran to export tractors to Iraq

TEHRAN, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Iraq has shown an interest in tractor products of Iran, and exports to the neighboring country will begin in near future, official IRNA news agency reported Friday.
Tractors made by the Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMC) will be exported to Iraq in near future, managing director of ITMC, Abolfat'h Ebrahimi, was quoted as saying.

"Officials from the friend and neighboring country (of Iraq) have expressed an interest in buying Iranian made tractors, and in the first purchase they have demanded exports of 1,500 tractors, valued at 12 million U.S. dollars," Ebrahimi said after a meeting with an Iraqi economic delegation to Iran's northwest city of Tabriz.

Iraq, with five million population of farmers, is in need of 60, 000 tractors today, and the country can be a very good and sustainable market for the Iranian products, he said.

Ebrahimi said that during the past nine months the ITMC manufactured 17,639 units of tractors, 3,600 units of which, worth 47 million U.S.dollars, were exported to different counties.
