Iran, Iraq mull environment cooperation

Baghdad, Jun 8, IRNA Iran?s Ambassador to Baghdad Hassan Danaeefar conferred on Wednesday with the Iraqi Environment Minister Sarkoun Slewa on ways to develop environment cooperation.

In the meeting, the Iraqi minister invited Director of Iran?s Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar to pay a visit to Iraq.


Based on the preliminary agreement signed between the two sides, Ebtekar is to visit Iraq late January, said the Iranian ambassador.

The Iraqi officials believe that the visit help expand mutual cooperation to stop degradation of environment.

The Iraqi minister, for his part, examined the latest status of cooperation on environment.

Mutual understanding between Iran and Iraq is of prime importance for both sides which can help protect the environment, said the Iraqi environment minister.
