TEHRAN, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The joint special representative of UN and the Arab League (AL) to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi will visit Iran on Sunday, semi-official Fars news agency reported Saturday.
During a one-day trip to Iranian capital of Tehran, Brahimi will hold talks with a number of Iranian high-ranking officials on Syria, said the report.
He visited Saudi Arabia and Turkey recently and is expected to talk with Iraqi officials on the Syrian crisis in Baghdad on Monday.
Last month, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi expressed Tehran's readiness to assist Brahimi in his mission to restore peace in Syria.
In a phone conversation with Brahimi, Salehi said Iran was looking for a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis without the interference of other countries.
Brahimi, for his part, stressed the importance of Iran's role in Syria's developments, saying the political approach to the Syrian crisis was the only solution to settle it.
The special representative also expressed hope that all concerned parties would cooperate to :functiocurity in Syria and stability in the region.
