New York, Jan 1, IRNA - Former US ambassador to the United Nations described the move by cetrain Congressmen to exert more pressure on Tehran as ineffective and a failure.
Talking to IRNA, Thomas Pickering underscored that such measures bring into question the US international commitments.

The stance of some US congressmen on Iran-5+1 deal reached in Geneva is a direct interference in the White House tasks and is contrary to the US national interests.

The threats to intensify anti-Iran sanctions are against the provisions of the Geneva agreement and the obligations of the US administration, he said, adding that based on the deal, the White House has pledged not to impose any new sanctions on Iran within a six-month period.
