Irans Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham says the nuclear deal reached between Tehran and six major world powers can be implemented if the ongoing expert-level talks bear fruit.If the Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1 [group of world powers] achieve a result at the end of todays negotiations, we will enter the next stage which is the implementation of the Joint Action Plan, Afkham said on Monday.
However, [if the sides] fail to reach a conclusion, we will need the continuation of negotiations at a higher level, she added.
The Iranian spokesperson noted that further negotiations would be held after the New Year holidays if necessary.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council --Britain, China, France, Russia and the US-- plus Germany resumed their expert-level nuclear talks in the Swiss city of Geneva on Monday.
The previous expert-level meeting was held on December 19-22 in Geneva to work out mechanisms to put into force the landmark interim deal struck between the two sides on November 24.
The November 24 agreement seeks to pave the way for the full resolution of the decade-old dispute over Irans nuclear energy program.
Under the Geneva deal, the six world powers have undertaken to provide Iran with some sanctions relief in exchange for Iran agreeing to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities during a six-month period. It was also agreed that no more nuclear-related sanctions would be imposed on Iran within the same timeframe.
