Nasim蓬ead of Iran痴 Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO) Mohammad Ali Najafi called on all countries to cooperate for rebuilding endangered world heritage including Arg-e Bam (the Bam citadel) which was almost destroyed by the 2003 earthquake.Upon a visit from the reconstructed Arg-e Bam, the senior Iranian tourism official stressed that the citadel was successfully rebuilt with cooperation from 12 foreign universities and research centers from various parts of the world.
He posited that the Arg has become a resistance symbol of Bam locals after the devastating 2003 earthquake which shattered the world痴 largest adobe complex into mud and straw ruins.
Najafi further honored all-out efforts made by the government and the region痴 locals to restructure the city, and asserted that foreign aids were a key help in reconstruction of the site.
迭econstruction of Arg-e Bam was an example of international cooperation in the past 10 years, said Najafi.
