Tehran, Dec 26, IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani said here Wednesday evening that Iranian religious minorities played a pivotal role during the 1979 Islamic Revolution as well as the eight-year of Iraq?s imposed war against the country (1980-1988).
President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with families of an Iranian Christian wartime martyr and another Christian war veteran who had made great sacrifices during the eight years of imposed war against Iran.

The meeting was held on the occassion of Christmas to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ (PBUH).

Congratulating the occassion, the President referred to Jesus Christ (PBUH) as ?the messenger of compassion and benevolence.?

?Iran belongs to all Iranians including Muslims, Christians and other religious minorities,? President Rouhani said stressing that every Iranian citizen should make ultimate efforts to help progress of the nation.
