Islamabad, Dec 23, IRNA Pakistani religious leader has said Iranian proposal of World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) shows that Islamic Republic is a peaceful country.
Talking to IRNA, Allama Amin Shaheedi Deputy Secretary General, Majlis Wehdat Muslemeen (MWM), said that Iran is an important country and wants to play an active role in bringing peace and stability in the world.
He pointed out that the international community should avoid violence because the policy of aggression and power dominance has already done a lot of damage to world peace.
Some 190 countries cast positive votes on Irans proposal to denounce extremism and violence at the United Nations General Assembly.
President Hassan Rouhani in his address at the UN General Assembly in September offered Irans proposal to denounce extremism and violence.
Allama Amin Shaheedi said that countries of the world must compete with each other for the stability of their nations and restoring peace in the world.
He went on to say that the UN resolution based on President Hassan Rohanis proposals would eliminate extremism from the world.
In a world where we see the violence and cruelty of the extremist groups, especially state terrorism, we must act according to counter extremism resolution and that would have great impact on society and human life, he viewed.
Allama Amin Shaheedi said that a world free from violence is a topic that has always been under discussion.
