Islamabad, Dec 17, IRNA Iranian Secretary-General of D-8 on Tuesday said that heads of news agencies of the D-8 countries will hold a meeting in Turkey next year.Talking to IRNA, on the sidelines of the D-8 commission meeting at Pakistans Foreign Ministry building, Ali Mohammad Mousavi said that after taking charge as the Secretary-General of D-8 he held series of meetings with the heads of news agencies of the member states during which he underlined the need for boost in all-out cooperation.
He said that D-8 would establish a group of high level experts to review the performance of the group in the past 16 years.
He said that during the 34th commission meeting of the D-8 the agenda of the upcoming ministerial conference of the group would be prepared.
Mousavi said that D-8 is planning to appoint some new officials in the meeting, adding that 2013 budgetary report of D-8 would be adopted in the session and roadmap for the 2014 budgetary report of D-8 would also be discussed.
He said he also held meetings with heads of the Iranian, Turkish, Indonesian and Egyptian news agencies to help enhance cooperation among the media organizations of the D-8 countries.
Foreign Ministers from D-8 member countries will meet in Islamabad on December 19 to adopt the proposals by the Commission to strengthen the D-8 Organization by implementing its key agreements, particularly the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), and to enhance the role of private sector in intra-D-8 cooperation.
The meeting will also take decisions regarding the way forward in the second life cycle of the organization that will ensue with the 9th Summit in Turkey next year.
In its capacity as the Chair of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Development, Pakistan is hosting the 16th Session of the D-8 Council of Ministers in Islamabad.
During the D-8 Summit held in Islamabad on November 22, 2012, Pakistan assumed the chairmanship of the D-8 until 2014.
The 33rd session of the D-8 Commission was held in Islamabad On September 2-3, 2013.
