TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian parliament's research center said in a new report that the recent visit by UN-Arab League Joint Special Envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimito Tehran showed the failure of the western-Arab strategies on Syria.

Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, Iran has underlined the necessity for finding a political Syrian-Syrian solution by paying attention to the Syrian peoples will to end the violent acts and stopping certain countries support for extremist and Takfiri groups, the parliaments Research Center said in its analytic report on Monday.

The analysis referred to the recent visit by Brahimi to Iran, and said, The trip showed the failure of the western-Arab strategies on the Syrian crisis on one hand, and the importance and constructive role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the new order and settlement of the regional problems on the other hand.

It underlined that the trip took place after the Syrian armys continued victories against the terrorists, the overthrow of Ikhwan al-Muslimun government in Egypt and the US avoidance of military intervention in Syria which showed widening gaps inside the western-Arab coalition over goals and strategies.

Syria has been gripped by a deadly crisis since 2011. According to reports, the western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

Iran along with a number of countries are making strenuous efforts to prevent a new war in the region by finding a political solution to the problems in Syria.

Brahimi visited Tehran late October. During the trip, he held meetings with Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and other high-ranking officials, including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, to discuss the latest developments in the crisis-hit Syria and ways to end bloodshed in the Muslim country.

Brahimi also held talks with senior Iranian officials on the upcoming International Geneva II Peace Conference on January 22.

He met with Zarif in Tehran, and then the two diplomats attended a joint press conference.

Brahimi told reporters that no letter has been sent to the world states to invite them to the Geneva II conference yet, "but the UN Secretary-General, me and many people are waiting to see the Islamic Republic of Iran's participation in this meeting".

"We are in a rush to hold this conference and we believe that many are in agreement with this view of ours," he added.

Brahimi noted his visit to Iran, and said, "I am asking Iran the same thing that I have asked from other states to do, that is help and cooperation to end this perilous crisis in Syria."

The Iranian top diplomat, for his part, said if Tehran is invited to the Geneva meeting, it would take part in the high-profile gathering, because Tehran is resolved to help end the ongoing regrettable bloodshed in Syria.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined that Tehran is in favor of negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition groups to create stability in the Middle Eastern country.

Last November, Iran hosted a meeting between the representatives of the Syrian government and opposition to encourage them to start talks to find a political solution to their problems. The National Dialogue Conference kicked off work in Tehran mid November with the motto of 'No to Violence, Yes to Democracy".

The meeting brought together almost 200 representatives of various Syrian ethnicities, political groups, minorities, the opposition, and state officials.
