Kabul, Dec 8, IRNA - Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Janan Mosazai said her Sunday the current visit to Tehran of President Hamid Karzai is aimed at fostering friendly ties between the two neighboring countries.
Addressing his weekly press conference, Mosazai said President Karzai is to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on issues of mutual interest.
The two presidents would review avenues to enhance economic cooperation and discuss presence of Afghan refugees in Iran, he said.
The trilateral cooperation between Iran, Afghanistan and India in Chabahar port in southeastern Iran will be among other issues to be discussed by the two leaders, Mosazai added.
Describing the level of Tehran-Kabul cooperation in the past decade as significant, he said the visit is taking place at the invitation of President Rouhani.
Karzai, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Tehran this morning.
