TEHRAN (Tasnim) Some regional countries have targeted Irans security and stability, but the competence and vigilance of Iranian security and intelligence forces will foil their plots, a prominent lawmaker said Thursday.The terrorist Jeish ul-Adl (Army of Justice) has accepted responsibility for the Saravan terrorist attack, which is a leftover of the Rigi terrorist group, but the supporter of that group is definitely the Saudi government, said Ahmad Bakhshayeshin an interview with Tasnim.
On Friday, October 25, a group of armed men carried out an ambush attack on a border post in Gazbostan, near Irans southeastern city of Saravan, on the border with Pakistan -- which has almost no control over its side of the shared frontier with Iran -- killing 14 Iranian border guards.
The member of the Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Commission expressed certainty that Saudi Arabia will never be successful in creating insecurity in Iran.
The countrys intelligence forces are in full control of the security situation and the Saudis would not be able to disturb the Iranian security even if they spent huge amounts of money, he said.
Bakhsayesh said that the other supporters of Jeish ul-Adl are the United States and the Zionist regime, whose contributions to the terrorist group are funneled through intermediary countries in the region to that group.
On contributions of the Saudi Arabia to terrorists fighting the government in Syria, the MP said, Ahead of the (Geneva II) negotiations, the Saudis have increased their financial support for the terrorists there, but the realities on the ground show the Syrian army has gained the upper hand in the war."
Following the deadly incident in Saravan, Iranian security officials have taken serious measures to clamp down on terrorist groups that sneak from the Pakistani side of the border into Iran to carry out terrorist acts.
Completing the security barrier along the country's southeastern borders in the province of Sistan and Balouchestan in the current year (to end March 20, 2014) is a top priority for Iran's security apparatus, said Iranian police chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddam on November 19.
Ahmadi Moqaddam said all the Iranian borders would be sealed, but that Sistan and Balouchestan borders are the first priority in the current year and that the interior minister has promised to provide the required funds for that purpose.
Also on November 17, Iran's interior minister said precise and serious border control in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan is of utmost importance, adding that in the next six months those parts of the border which are still not sealed will be blocked to illegal crossings.
Serious and precise protection of Sistan and Balouchestan borders is on the agenda and it will take six months from now to seal the yet unblocked parts of our borders and to control them, especially in Saravan region, Interior Minister Abdol Reza Rahmani Fazli said in Zabol.
Iran's border police commander, too, said on November 16 that some $30 million has been allocated for the security and sealing of borders in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, that adjoins both Pakistan and Afghanistan, by the end of the Iranian calendar year.
