Iran offers Turkey help to mend ties with Syria

ANKARA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran could help Turkey to mend ties with Syria, the Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Alireza Bikdeli said on Friday, citing to strained ties between the two neighbors since the unrest erupted in the Arab country in 2011.
Iran could use all its means to help Turkey mend its relations with the Syria's Bashar al-Assad administration, the ambassador told reporters.

Having some differences on Syrian issue, Turkey and Iran agreed on some principles concerning Syria during a recent visit by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu to Tehran, Bikdeli noted.

Those principles include maintaining stability and territorial integrity of Syria and fight against terrorism, he stated.

Turkey and Iran will work for political solution to the Syrian crisis, ending civil war and maintaining ceasefire, enabling return of the Syrian refugees to their homes and providing humanitarian aid for them, according to the ambassador.

He also underscored cooperation between Turkish and Iranian intelligence services. The Iranian Intelligence service MOIS " works in close collaboration" with Turkey's National Intelligence Organization, the ambassador said, stressing the significance of this cooperation for the region's security and even for global security.
