Ashton seeks sustainable, robust Iran deal: Spokesman
Catherine Ashton, who represents the six world powers in nuclear talks with Iran, seeks a sustainable and robust agreement in the negotiations, her chief spokesperson tellsPress TVin an exclusive interview.
Ashton has come back very shortly after the last round and I think that is a sign of how serious this is to try and narrow these different issues. She has come back with a determination to really drive things forward, Michael Mann, spokesman for the European Union foreign policy chief, said on Wednesday.
She wants to find as soon as possible a sustainable and robust deal with Iran that is really verifiable and reassures the international community about the purely peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program, the spokesman added.
In response to a question about reported differences among the six powers, including Frances bid to block a potential deal during the previous round of talks, Mann noted that at the Sextet is united, saying, It is all about getting that robust deal with the Iranians.

We do not want it to last forever either, but what has to happen at the end of the day is that the deal has to be a good deal that everybody can live with and actually provides the reassurance that we are seeking, he pointed out.

Iran and the six world powers - the US, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany - on Thursday started the second day of their new round of talks over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program.

During the last round of talks in Geneva in early November, a first-step agreement was within reach but the position taken by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in favor of the Israeli regime and a lack of commitment by US Secretary of State John Kerry spoiled the negotiations.
