Russian envoy: Lebanon twin blasts aim to defeat Geneva II talks

Beirut, Nov 21, IRNA - Russian Ambassador to LebanonAlexander Zasypkin said on Thursday here that the recent twin terrorist bombings in the Lebanese capital aimed to halt the upcoming Geneva II international conference on Syria.
Speaking exclusively to IRNA, the diplomat warned regional states against terrorist acts on the eve of the Geneva II conference on Syria.

At least 24 people were killed and some 150 were injured during the attacks on November 19 by two suicide bombers who targeted the embassy compound in south Beirut.

Irans cultural attache in Beirut Ebrahim Ansari and four of the embassy security staff were killed in the fatal terrorist blasts.

Zasypkin urged the need for a common regional stance against terrorism.
