Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA -- Thousands of Iranians from across the country came to Tehran to take part in the mourning ceremonies held at the residence of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hossein (AS).
Folks of people from different walks of life came to Imam Khomeini Hosseiniya in Tehran to mourn Ashoura, the tenth day of the lunar month of Moharram, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (PBUH). The ceremony was hosted by Ayatollah Khamenei.
Imam Hossein (AS) and 72 of his companions were martyred by warriors of Yazid about 1,400 years ago in Karbala desert.
The mourning ceremonies for Imam Hossein (AS) will continue in Imam Khomeini Hosseiniya on Friday.
