UN General Assembly OKs Rouhani's nuclear disarmament proposals

TEHRAN (ISNA)- The UN General Assembly Disarmament and International Security Committee approved a draft resolution submitted by Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and included three proposals by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on nuclear disarmament.
The draft was ratified wining 129 votes. 28 countries opposed the draft and there was 19 abstentions.

Rouhani's proposals include:

1. Holding talks swiftly to conclude an all-inclusive international convention in order to prohibit obtaining, producing, developing, storing and using nuclear weapons, and annihilating these weapons.

2. Holding an international high-ranking conference in 2018 for nuclear disarmament.

3. Naming September 26 as The World Day of Complete Annihilation of Nuclear Arms.

Rouhani has presented his proposals in the first high-ranking meeting of the UN General Assembly held in New York on September 26 on nuclear disarmament.
