Syrians who have been forced to leave their homes due to an ongoing crisis in the country continue to suffer at home and abroad,Press TVreports.
In Lebanons Beqaa Valley, falling temperature is creating more hardships for Syrian refugees, a Press TV correspondent reported on Tuesday.
Most of the refugees live in overcrowded houses, while others have set up makeshift tents constructed from items of debris such as dismantled billboards.
The refugees in the camp of Tal al-Abyad have meager resources and as winter approaches, many fear that they may not have enough to deal with the harsh weather.
The winter here is unbelievably cold. We do not have hot water. We only have summer items available such as light blankets. We dont have heat or fuel, a Syrian refugee told Press TV.
Parents are worried about their childrens health as many of them are suffering from cold, bronchial infections and other diseases.
Organizations in Lebanon, such as SAWA Group, which works with United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), are making efforts to help the refugees.
With weather forecasts predicting that Lebanon will have one of the coldest winters in the last century, displaced Syrians in the camp of Tal al-Abyad know they will have tough times ahead, adding despair to their already-bitter conditions.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
In a recent statement, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said the number of Syrian refugees, who have fled the countrys 31-month-long conflict, reached two million.
The UN refugee agency also said some 4.2 million people have also been displaced inside Syria since the beginning of the conflict in the Arab country.
